Baking with My Savior
Baking with my Savior—cooking with my Savior—what a delight! I don’t have to plan it all out like I used to. Decades ago, when I was following my *Workers at Home* book's recipes, again after not baking for years, it sometimes felt overwhelming. But then, what a complete delight it was to discover baking with my Savior—everything came alive and so much more.
You see, I messed up once when I was just trying to make some cookies. But in the middle of that “mistake,” God reminded me of His promise—that all things work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
So, what was my purpose in creating a cookie dough?
These cookies weren’t new. I had made them for years. I had taught my children how to make them, and now those recipes have even been passed down to my grandchildren. But in that particular moment, God showed me something more.
What started as a “wrong” mixture ended up producing a variety of cookies I never would have thought of—never would have tried or even prayed about! And yet, there it was. Out of that “mistake,” something new was born.
Through it, I had a chance to talk to my daughter about the recipe, connect with my granddaughter, and even share it with a precious young woman in Japan who calls me “Mom.” A new version was created—and it was beautiful.
Originally, the plan was to call it *Workers at Home: The Next Generation.* My daughter and I even talked about writing it together. But it stopped. And you know what? Sometimes things pause because they’re simply waiting for their appointed time.
And that’s exactly what happened. Years later, instead of a book full of cleaning and organizing tips (though I still use all my *Workers at Home* tricks every day!), something new began to take shape. Maybe someday it will become another book—or maybe it will all blend into one. Only God knows.
Now I see how things that once lived in the physical are moving into the digital—into the cloud. And I think, *Wow, wouldn’t that be a fun book to write, too?*
But here we are, with this new beginning: *Bakers at Home.* Doesn’t that just sound fun? I’m so excited to share it with you.
This is just the first recording—capturing the vision while it’s still fresh. Maybe it’s in its infancy… or maybe it’s even earlier, just conceived! Maybe it’ll take nine months—or ten in my case, like when I was born—to really bring it forth.
But isn’t that exciting? It feels like birthing a miracle. When you first find out you’re expecting a child, you can’t help but tell everyone the good news. And that’s how I feel right now—I’m excited, and I hope you are too!
Cookies!!
Cookies are the ultimate crowd-pleaser in every home, aren’t they? They’ve actually become a bit of a Thiele family tradition—baked not only by my children, but now with my grandchildren too! Even before we moved out to the farm, my oldest daughter had already stepped right into my place. She quickly became the most famous baker in the family—her cookies were always in demand! And now it’s her daughter who’s the star baker. I just love swapping recipes with her through texts and pictures since we live states apart.
Here’s a little secret I shared in my original workers@home book: cookies are the perfect “first recipe” for anyone learning to cook. Baking is easier to start with than cooking—no tricky flames, no burners to watch—just mix, bake, share, and enjoy.
And the best part? Everyone loves homemade cookies! That instant excitement and praise is sure to encourage a brand-new baker's confidence. Before long, it’s not just about cookies anymore—they’re off exploring all kinds of cooking!
So if you want to spark a love for the kitchen, start with cookies. They’re simple, sweet, and guaranteed to win applause. (And trust me—if your family doesn’t make a fuss, just remind them that applause is the price for more cookies!)

I know. I sound like a broken record when I tell you how delicious something is, but these are the best peanut butter cookies I’ve ever eaten. The secret is that you use “chunky” peanut butter!
Baking with my Savior Testimony,✨
Add to 2: chocolate chips, cranberries,? While doing a mundane task, refilling water bottles for the refrigerator, I asked him what cookies we make next? Record the vision and put it on my iPad. Add to 2: chocolate chips, cranberries, oatmeal? Because I waited, I’m not sure of the third “oatmeal” but no doubt He’ll use it for good, and something amazing will come of it.
